After Work

A Designers Guide to De-stressing

When I'm stressed I usually turn to one of three activities:

  • Watching this on repeat.
  • Eating some type of cheese, potato, or high in sodium (low in health) food.
  • Binge watching makeup tutorials on YouTube.

But as of late I've been turning to...

Photoshopping my face on people who aren't me. It's weird and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone:

From right to left: Random painting I found, random painting I found, and Specia Agent Alina Dale Cooper. Note: I do not own the rights to these photos please no one hate me / sue me. Thanks!

Very Helpful — Vol 1.

I am very happy to share some super helpful stuff you should read!

Rethinking Success as an Artist by Might Could Studios / A fantastic read that reminds us success should be based on internal definitions that apply to your current life situation and set of beliefs. Really wonderful!

Art (as) Therapy by Jessica Hische / Reading this talk was a big old shove in the right direction for me. It reminded me how much I love the process of making and icky I feel when I go for more than a few days without drawing.

Working File Podcast / Recently stumbled upon this podcast and have been loving the variety of topics that are covered.

Drunk On Lettering / Always love listening to these ladies! I attended their recent workshop back in April that took place in Atlanta. Excited for new episodes this may!

Things I Can Sort of Draw

Because I accidentally fell into design during college, I don't consider myself to be skilled at drawing. In an effort to chill the fuck out, I've started a new drawing series called "Things I Can Sort of Draw."

It's been a wonderful way to loosen up and have fun (even though they are mostly just silly doodles). The process has reminded to be more open to practicing and drawing weird things knowing that while they may not be very good, they sure are fun to make!

Check out some sketches below.  BTW sassy ghosty forever right?
